For John...

...who called me a "rotter" today, and then told me that I haven't been pouting enough lately.

A rotter? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I took it badly - he was giving me hell for making him feel bad about something - :)

I would only call that a half pout really...sure you can do better than that.

Some pout. You can stick that lip out farther than that.

Seems Terri does not know what a "Rotter" is and perhaps Ali was not totally sure? Maybe it is a purely British term?

I think it comes from around the 1920s, Rotter being a term of abuse used by the younger upper classes - anyone seen Jeeves and Wooster - as in "He's an absolute rotter!" Similar terms were "Cad" and "Bounder". These days they are not words that are taken seriously (at least they shouldn't be!) and "Rotter" is almost a term of endearment! It works really well when combined with a good pout.
